Curriculum & Testing
Please note: We are not an "online" school. The majority of our curriculum uses textbooks, workbooks, paper, and pencils. Exceptions are: Computer Programming, Typing, Essays, etc.
Curriculum
The short answer on curriculum: We have cultivated a mixture of our favorite educational resources. It is a blend of materials from both large and small publishing companies.

Examples of larger publishers in use: Sadlier-Oxford, McGraw-Hill, Glencoe, Houghton Mifflin, Pearson.
Examples of smaller publisher in use: American Publishing Company, Worktext, Heron, DK, Modern Curriculum Press.
Let's get specific with Mathematics!
Pre-K: We use custom made packets to learn our letter and number symbols.
Kinder-3rd: We use Saxon Mathematics. We love Saxon for the foundational levels because of the teaching approach, hands-on, & repetition.
4th-8th: We love Sadlier-Oxford's Progress in Mathematics. Lessons are presented clearly with cyclical repetition through the levels.
Higher Math: This depends on the student and their needs. We either continue with Sadlier-Oxford for Algebra, Glencoe for Geometry, and back to Saxon for Advanced Math. Or, we switch to the "Key To" series for Algebra and Geometry. This ultimately depends on the student's needs.
Testing
We administer state testing once a year. We use paper tests- usually the IOWA or CAT State tests. it is a pretty painless process for our students. Most love testing week because of all the free time & the ice cream reward when they're done!
